ท่านกฤษณมูรติเคยกล่าวไว้ว่า
"สมัยพระพุทธเจ้ายังทรงพระชนม์อยู่
เปลวเพลิงที่ลุกโชน สว่างไสว
พระองค์ตรัสไว้มิใช่เพื่อให้เคารพบูชา
แต่เพื่อปลุกจิตที่หลับใหลให้ตื่นขึ้นมา
แต่เมื่อพระองค์ปรินิพพาน
เปลวเพลิงนั้นก็ถูกบันทึกไว้เป็นถ้อยคำ
และถ้อยคำเหล่านั้นก็ถูกแปรเปลี่ยนเป็นคัมภีร์
วัดวาอารามถูกสร้างขึ้น
พระพุทธรูปถูกสร้างขึ้น
มีการกระทำพิธีกรรมต่างๆ ต่อๆ มา
และแก่นแท้ก็ค่อยๆ จางหายไป
ท่านกฤษณมูรติเตือนเราว่า
"พระพุทธเจ้าที่แท้จริงไม่ได้อยู่
ในหนังสือหรือรูปเคารพ
แต่อยู่ในการตื่นรู้แห่งสติสัมปชัญญะ
ของตัวคุณเอง
คุณไม่สามารถติดตามผู้อื่นไปสู่สัจธรรมได้
แม้แต่พระพุทธเจ้าก็ตาม
คุณต้องเห็นด้วยตนเอง
ไม่ใช่ด้วยการจดจำ แต่ด้วยการมองเห็น"

Krishnamurti once said, "When the Buddha lived,
there was a living flame, direct, vibrant, alive. He spoke not to be worshipped,
but to awaken the sleeping mind. But the moment he died, that fire was captured in words, and these words were turned into scriptures. Temples were built, statues erected, rituals repeated, and slowly, the essence faded. Krishnamurti reminds us, "The real Buddha is not in the books or images, but in the awakening of your own awareness. You cannot follow another to truth. Not even the Buddha.
You must see for yourself. Not remember, but see."
