เมื่อคนเห็นบางสิ่งสวยงาม
สิ่งอื่นก็กลายเป็นความน่าเกลียด
เมื่อคนเห็นบางสิ่งดี
สิ่งอื่นก็กลายเป็นความเลว
ความเป็นและความไม่เป็น
ก่อกำเนิดซึ่งกันและกัน
สิ่งที่ยากและง่าย
สนับสนุนในกันและกัน
สิ่งที่ยาวและสั้น
กำหนดโดยกันและกัน
สิ่งที่สูงและต่ำ
ขึ้นอยู่กับกันและกัน
สิ่งใดก่อน สิ่งใดหลัง
เป็นไปตามกันและกัน
ดังนั้นครูบาอาจารย์
จึงกระทำโดยไม่ทำอะไร
และสอนโดยไม่พูดอะไร
สิ่งต่างๆ เกิดขึ้น ท่านปล่อยให้มันมา
สิ่งต่างๆ หายไป ท่านปล่อยให้มันไป
ท่าน "มี" แต่ไม่ได้ "ครอบครอง"
กระทำแต่ไม่ได้คาดหวัง
เมื่องานของท่านเสร็จสิ้น
ท่านก็ลืมมัน
นั่นคือเหตุผลว่า
ทำไมมันจึงคงอยู่ชั่วนิรันดร์

When people see some things as beautiful,
other things become ugly.
When people see some things as good,
other things become bad.
Being and non-being create each other.
Difficult and easy support each other.
Long and short define each other.
High and low depend on each other.
Before and after follow each other.
Therefore the Master
acts without doing anything
and teaches without saying anything.
Things arise and she lets them come;
things disappear and she lets them go.
She has but doesn't possess,
acts but doesn't expect.
When her work is done, she forgets it.
That is why it lasts forever.
